Coyoacán, Xochimilco and the Frida Kahlo Museum
Tour Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Mexico City at the indicated time, we'll head south to Coyoacán, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the capital.
There, we'll board a trajinera, a small traditional boat decorated with flowers, to navigate the canals and artificial islands that have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
After the boat ride, we'll set out to explore the Coyoacán neighbourhood, an area famous for having been home to figures such as Leon Trotsky, Octavio Paz, Diego Rivera, and Frida Kahlo. We'll learn about its ancient history, from the settlement of the first communities in the highlands of Mesoamerica to its becoming the seat of power after the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.
We'll stroll through cobbled streets and picturesque squares while admiring impressive 16th-century Baroque mansions. We'll also visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, located in the famous Blue House. We'll discover the intimate world of the Latin American artist by visiting the house where she was born, created part of her work, and died. Afterwards, we'll stop at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where you'll have time to grab something to eat.
Finally, after a 9-hour tour, we'll return to your hotel.
