At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Joselín bakery. It's an estate nestled in the heart of the Valles Pasiegos, surrounded by mountains and lush green landscapes, where the flavors of sobao taste even better.
Throughout the visit to the Museo del Sobao Pasiego, you'll learn about the history of the Valles Pasiegos and the process behind making these classic Cantabrian sweets. It's an immersive experience featuring period utensils and everyday objects belonging to the Joselín family.
From a glazed area overlooking the production floor, you'll also get to watch the baking process up close. You may even get to meet Mariángeles or Laura, the daughter and granddaughter of the bakery's founder, who'll share the family story firsthand, let you in on the region's secrets, and walk you through the fascinating evolution of its cuisine.
At the end of the 50-minute visit, you'll get to sample several of the bakery's specialties:
- Blueberry sobao
- Sobao torrija
- Three-milk sobao
- Sobao cake with carrot, walnuts, cream cheese, and butter
- Pasiegos churros
- Butter cookies
- Quesada pasiega
