Adelaide Guided Tour
Adelaide Guided Tour
We'll meet at the designated time in front of Adelaide City Hall to start this guided walking tour of the city. Led by a local guide, we'll explore the iconic Victoria Square to discover how this area transformed from a simple vacant lot into the proud heart of colonial democracy.
During our walk, we'll admire the spectacular stone facades of the city's most influential institutions. We'll tour the Historic Court District to admire the imposing architecture of the Supreme Court and Magistrates' Court, while listening to fascinating stories about colonial justice, famous trials, and legal pioneers.
We'll continue exploring the exterior and part of the interior of the Treasury building, one of Adelaide's oldest public buildings, where we'll discover how its secret underground tunnels and gold escorts saved the economy of the time.
A short walk away, we'll pause before the striking neo-Gothic architecture of St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral and discover the old General Post Office, a monumental Victorian building that served as a lifeline for connecting the early colonists with the rest of the world.
Plus, along the way, we'll uncover the hidden meanings and controversies behind the statues and monuments dedicated to Queen Victoria, Colonel William Light, and the early explorers.
Finally, after 2 hours, we'll conclude the tour next to the old General Post Office.
