Albarracín Castle Guided Tour
Tour Details
The Islamic Alcazaba of Albarracín, better known as the Castle, is one of the great monuments to visit in this town in the province of Teruel. Don't want to miss it? Then meet us at the Museum of Albarracín, where we'll go on a guided tour of Albarracín Castle.
Firstly, we'll admire the impressive exterior of this fort, located at the top of a rocky promontory that dominates the whole village. Can you imagine the views you'll have from there? Don't forget to take a photo! To discover its history, we'll go back to the time when this ancient fortress of the Banu Razín was one of the great defensive bastions in Albarracín.
During our visit, we'll speak about the Islamic archaeological remains that have been found over the centuries, which will allow you to understand what the dwellings of the social and military elite of those centuries were like, as well as what life inside the castle was like.
At the same time, we'll see how the Alcazaba was enlarged with watchtowers and two walled enclosures. Did you know that it occupies more than 3000 m² (32,291 ft²) of surface area? It's one of the most important monuments in Albarracín for a reason! While we explore the castle and its walls, we'll enjoy the incredible panoramic view of the city.
To complete the tour, we'll see the remains of the Andalusian-style dwellings that are still preserved inside the castle, where we'll observe the places where the kitchens, latrines, the main hall or the hamman were located.
Finally, after a 50-minute tour of Albarracín Castle, we'll say our goodbyes at the departure point.
