Armenia Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Parish of the Holy Spirit and, following a brief introduction, we'll begin our walking tour of Armenia, capital of the Colombian department of Quindio.
Taking advantage of our meeting point, we'll visit the park that is right across the street, Los Fundadores, one of the most iconic places in the city. In this park lie the remains of the founder of Armenia, Jesús María Ocampo, and his wife, María Arsenia Cardona.
From there, we'll walk to Sucre Park, built in honor of Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, who fought for the independence of Colombia. In this green space, we'll also show you the oldest tree in the city, which has witnessed decades of history.
Next, we'll continue exploring Armenia as we approach the Open Skies Mall, which is actually a pedestrian street with several local stores. We'll stop at one of them to refuel with a cup of coffee, chocolate, or fresh juice, whichever you prefer.
Afterward, we'll cross the street to stop in front of the Arriero monument, a bronze sculpture depicting a peasant with his mule. In colonial times, the people who dedicated themselves to this trade were crucial in regions where there were no roads to transport all kinds of products.
We'll continue strolling through the charming corners of Armenia until we reach the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. At this last point, we'll say goodbye after 3 hours of sightseeing.
