Activity Details

Want to visit the Portuguese Venice on land and sea? To do so, we'll be waiting for you at Cais dos Botirões. Here, we'll greet you on board a moliceiro traditional boat, which resembles the Venetian gondolas. Ready to sail along the main canal in Aveiro?

During this 45-minute boat ride on board this traditional boat, you'll be amazed by the views of the Art Nouveau buildings that decorate the shores. Does every balcony have its own history? We'll tell you about it as we pass under the most iconic bridges, where the Praça General Humberto Delgado stands out.

Here, you'll admire the monument A Salineira, a tribute to the women who worked in the salt industry and made it prosper. From the water, you'll also see the old fishermen's market and the former salt warehouses.

We'll sail back to the starting point on dry land, and you'll have to head to the Estação Ferroviária de Aveiro. We'll then board the sightseeing train of Aveiro, which will take us to the heart of the city. On this sightseeing train tour, we'll tell you many facts!

We'll pass the University of Aveiro, an architectural gem from the 20th century, where you'll be amazed by its large extension of 227 acres (92 hectares). Later, we'll reach the Cathedral of Aveiro, also known as the Church of St. Dominic. In this Mannerist-style temple, the four Solomonic columns are particularly noteworthy.

Then, we'll pass the old Jerónimo Pereira Campos ceramic factory, an example of the industrial buildings from the beginning of the 20th century. See that charming building with traditional Portuguese tiles? It's the train station, whose facade in light blue colors depicts scenes of the locals' traditional life.

From there, we'll see other monuments until we reach our initial starting point, where we'll hop off the sightseeing train after 45 minutes. All good things come to an end!
