Railway Market, Floating Market, & Ayutthaya Ruins Day Trip

  • 64 reviews | 608 travellers
I will recommend this tour if you are staying 3 days in Bangkok or more and you want to do something a bit different. Very easy as well, they pick you up at the hotel and drop you off there later. It starts early which is good because you visit the railway market before it gets crowded and the experience is nice. Floating market was good as well. Lunch spot in Ayutthaya was great a small Thai family restaurant with great prices, in front of the reclining buda.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at the National Stadium BTS Station in Bangkok and set off southwest toward the famous Maeklong Railway Market. After a 1.5-hour journey, we'll reach this busy open-air market where you'll have the chance to see all kinds of local products. Plus, if you're lucky, you'll see how the train crosses the market.

The tour will continue toward the iconic floating market of Damnoen Saduak. This labyrinth of canals has local merchants selling their products in traditional boats. We'll board one of these boats to go shopping Thai-style!

Afterward, you'll have some free time to have lunch and enjoy this charming area. Then, we'll head to the ruins of Ayutthaya. This place was the capital of the Kingdom of Siam from the 14th to the 18th century, as well as an important commercial center.

Here, you'll visit the ruins of the main temples in the area: Wat Mahathat, Wat Yai Chai Mongkon, and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Get ready to see the famous Buddha head entwined in tree roots at the temple of Wat Mahathat, the towering stupa dominating the temple of Wat Yai Chai Mongkon, and the temple of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, once part of the royal palace in Ayutthaya. With your guide, you'll discover the significance of each temple and admire the many Buddha statues decorating the site.

After seeing these unique spots in Thailand, we'll return to the meeting point in the capital, where we'll arrive 12 hours after pickup.

Separate Tours

If you prefer, you can book a day trip to Ayutthaya and a tour of the Maeklong Railway Market and Floating Market separately.
