Great Wall of China Private Day Trip
Tour Options
At almost 5,600 miles (9,000 km), the Great Wall of China has several sections open to visitors. During the trip, the guide will give you an introduction to its history and, once you arrive, will accompany you along a short section. Afterward, you’ll have approximately two hours to explore the Great Wall of China at your own pace. The distance covered will depend on your physical fitness and can range from 500 to 4,000 meters (1,640–13,123 ft).
When booking, you must choose from the following sections of the wall:
Badaling
This is the best restored and most touristic section of the wall. This means it tends to be extremely busy, and for that reason, it's perhaps not the ideal section to visit. But if you like the hustle and bustle, and would like to see the wall restored to all its former glory, this tour lasts for two hours.
Mutianyu
With stunning surroundings and fewer tourists, this is the most recommendable option for the majority of travellers. This area is also extremely well preserved and was once the northern barrier which protected the capital and the imperial burial sites it contains. This tour lasts almost 2 hours.
Please note that this option does not include the Great Wall toboggan slide, which costs 200 RMB per person.
Simatai or Jinshanling
With steeper and little-restored sections, this is a tour for those who like things a little wilder, are in good shape and are looking for a tour which involves some physical activity, 'trekking' style. This tour lasts between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on which route you choose.
The Ming Tombs (Underground Palace)
If you decide to tour Badaling, on the way back to Beijing you'll be able to visit the Ming Tombs (The Underground Palace). Just ask your guide so he can plan the day's schedule.
Important Info
Although tickets are NOT included in the price, the guide will buy them in advance to avoid long queues on the day of the tour. To do so, you'll have to provide the details requested at the time of booking: name, surname, passport, and date of birth.
All details must be correct and match those on the passport or documentation to avoid problems accessing the wall.
On the day of the tour, you'll have to pay, in cash, the price of the tickets.
Layover in Beijing? Tour from the Airport!
If you’re traveling to Beijing and don’t have much time, take advantage of our tour from the airport! Depending on how much time you have, we’ll visit some of the Chinese capital’s most important landmarks, such as the Great Wall or the Forbidden City.
