At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at Praça da Liberdade to head towards Serra do Espinhaço. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful natural corners of Minas Gerais?
After about an hour's drive, we'll make a brief stop in Cachoeira do Campo so you can have a coffee and stretch your legs.
Then, after another hour's drive, we'll arrive in São Bartolomeu, a small village where we'll begin a 2-hour hike through the Floresta Estadual do Uaimií. This protected natural area, whose name in Tupi-Guarani means “River of the Elders”, will fascinate you with its lush vegetation and serene atmosphere—a true natural haven!
During the tour, we'll come across a refreshing waterfall, the perfect place to relax in the middle of nature. After this revitalizing stop, we'll return to the center of town for a delicious traditional lunch, including beans and chicken. We'll eat dishes prepared over a wood fire with local ingredients, cultivated and raised in the houses' own backyards.
Following lunch, you'll have an hour of free time in São Bartolomeu. Be sure to visit Matriz church, stroll through its streets and relax on the banks of the River das Velhas, the largest tributary of the São Francisco. You can also take this opportunity to buy local artisanal products, like wines, liquors, sweets, bread rolls and handicrafts.
Finally, we'll return to Belo Horizonte and say goodbye at the starting point, 10 hours later.
Typical Sweets Demo
If you're joining us between February and May, after lunch, we'll attend a live demonstration of how the famous goiabada cascão is made by hand. This traditional sweet, crafted from locally grown guavas, is a regional favorite.
