Bilbao Estuary & Abra Bay Boat Trip
Activity Details
The crossing begins at the selected time from the pier at Plaza Pío Baroja. From here, we’ll set off on a scenic boat ride along the Bilbao Estuary and the Bay of Abra, an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Nervión Estuary.
As soon as we set sail, you'll sail through waters that have witnessed centuries of history, passing by the Guggenheim Museum, whose metallic curves seem to dance on the water. You'll also see the Euskalduna Palace, a symbol of Bilbao's contemporary culture.
Nearby, the old shipyards will loom as guardians of the industrial past that transformed Bilbao into one of the naval powers of northern Spain. As the ship moves forward, the city will unfold like a changing canvas, combining traditional and modern architecture.
Slowly, as the boat gradually moves away from the center, you'll see how the estuary widens and leads through even more emblematic landscapes of Greater Bilbao. The route will reach Portugalete and you'll see the Vizcaya Suspension Bridge, the first of its kind in the world and declared a World Heritage Site. Then, in front of Santurtzi and Getxo, you'll see elegant mansions of the Belle Époque and marine villas, where a historic fishing tradition still thrives.
During this 2-hour and 45-minute boat trip, you can relax in the indoor and outdoor areas, and have a drink at the bar if you'd like. What's more, you can discover the history of the estuary and the bay thanks to the audio guide that will accompany you throughout the tour.
