Avenida Corrientes Tango Tour
Tango Tour Details
Interested in discovering the history of tango on the avenue where this cultural movement began in Buenos Aires? To do so, we'll meet at the designated time at Corrientes 348, an iconic meeting point for all those who love tango. This site is part of one of the oldest and most popular tangos. Can you guess which one?
You'll find out by looking at the honorary plaque and the mural dedicated to Corrientes 348 as we share how this avenue is closely linked to tango. We'll go up the 23rd floor of this building, where the Club Alemán is found, to admire the vastness of Corrientes and take our first pictures of the tour.
Then, we'll go down and walk in search of the historic bars of La Ideal, Los Galgos, and La Giralda. At this last bar, we'll enjoy a traditional snack. Next, we'll continue toward the theatres of Tabaris, the Politeama, and the Marabu, which were formerly cabarets.
Continuing our tango tour, we'll visit the emblematic venues of Gran Rex, the Odeón Theatre, La Bohemia de Buenos Aires, the Teatro Ópera Orbis, the Teatro Lola Membrives, and the Maipo. In each of these venues, we'll discuss the main orchestras of the golden period. Plus, you'll see the place where the illustrious Carlos Gardel used to sing in the Argentinian capital.
Then, it'll finally be the most awaited moment—it's time to visit an authentic tango dance hall! Locally known as milongas, these venues are the favorite meeting point for Argentinians who love this sensual dance. Here, you'll enjoy a beverage while learning about the unwritten rules of this more than 100-year-old cultural ritual. Amazing!
Finally, we'll say goodbye after this 3-hour tour.
