We'll meet at the central El-Tahrir Plaza, in front of La Poire Café, to kick off our gastronomic adventure through Egypt's capital. Get ready to experience Cairo!
After a brief introduction to traditional Egyptian cuisine, we'll set off on our route through downtown Cairo in search of traditional flavors. Our first stop will bring us to a refreshing juice beverage, setting the scene as we head to the iconic Champollion Palace, constructed in the 14th century.
Our next stop will be at a typical street cart in the area, where we'll savor the flavors of a quintessential Egyptian dish – Koshari. This delightful combination of rice, lentils, macaroni, garbanzos, and tomato sauce promises a burst of authentic taste. Our next destination is another street cart offering an array of sandwiches. Take your pick from the three enticing options available, all of which are sure to delight.
Then we'll head to a fresh street food venue, where we'll experience a familiar recipe transformed by the unique local preparation. Get ready for a culinary revelation, as the way the locals craft this dish is a culinary experience unlike anything you've encountered before!
The tour continues on with a taste of traditional falafel, known locally in Egypt as ta'meya. We'll also unravel the secrets of its preparation, giving you insights into the art of making them. As the grand finale to our tour, we'll sweeten the experience with a classic Egyptian dessert called feteer meshaltet, made of a delightful puff pastry.
After two captivating hours of culinary exploration, our tour will come to an end on 26th of July Street, right in front of the Gad restaurant. Feel free to continue enjoying Egyptian cuisine at your own pace if you'd like!
