Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll begin our walking tour of Islamic Cairo from the stunning Bab al-Futuh, one of the largest gates to the old walls of the Egyptian capital.

Next to this site, we'll visit the interior of the Al-Hakim Mosque, built between the 10th and 12th centuries. After exploring its large courtyard and admiring the details of its minarets, we'll head to Bayt al-Suhaymi. This is a well-preserved Ottoman house from the 17th century, where you'll see its elegant rooms and charming courtyard.

Then, we'll walk along the iconic El-Moez street. Did you know it's one of the oldest streets of the Egyptian capital? It's considered the true heart of historic Cairo. This street is known for its notable traditional Islamic architecture. It'll be like traveling back in time!

We'll continue strolling along this famous street until we reach the Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Barquq, which catches everyone's eye with its beautiful marble mosaics. Very close to this monument, you'll find the Qalawun complex, a spectacular architectural complex from the 13th century, where you'll visit its madrasa, an Islamic school, and its mausoleum, commissioned by the Sultan Qalawun.

Our next stop will be at the popular bazaar of Khan el-Khalili, where you'll see a wide variety of spices and jewelry items. Plus, we'll visit some of its surrounding street stalls. Here, you can try Egyptian specialties like the typical zalabya sweets, the chickpea drink of halabessa, Egyptian pastry, or the traditional dish of rice, pasta, and chickpeas called koshary.

After tasting some of these recipes, we'll conclude this 3-hour tour of Islamic Cairo by visiting the Imam al Husayn Shrine, an architectural gem dating back to the 12th century.

If you choose this option, 30 minutes before the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Cairo or Giza to take you to the meeting point where the walking tour will begin. After the activity, we'll take you back to your hotel.
