Cerreto Sannita & Cusano Mutri Guided Tour

We'll meet at the appointed time in Piazza San Martino, Cerreto Sannita, to kick off a guided tour of the Benevento region, renowned for the area's finely decorated ceramics

We'll start the experience by telling you about the history of this Campanian city. Did you know that after the terrible earthquake that struck it in 1688, it was rebuilt following a series of earthquake-resistant criteria?

Next, seeing the historic center, we'll visit some of the main points of interest in the area, including the Cloister of St. Anthony, home of today's Museum of Ceramics, custodian of the prestigious "Mazzacane" collection

Having explored the main rooms of the museum, we'll enter a renowned ceramics workshop in the area to discover the working tools, secrets and the most significant stages of the workmanship of this millenary tradition handed down from generation to generation.

We'll accompany you to a trattoria located in the upper part of the medieval village, where you can recharge your batteries with a lunch of cured meats, meats and wine. Then we'll continue in the direction of Cusano Mutri, located 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) away in Cerreto and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Here, we'll kick off the visit by crossing the "Middle Gate," elevated on the village steps, and continue to Piazza Roma, famous for its scenic amphitheatre shape, to reach the Church of Saints Peter and Paul.

Finally, if we have enough time, we'll end our visit on a high note by stopping in San Lorenzerello, the village of Nicola Giustiniani, one of the master potters of the 1700s. The town's small squares, narrow streets, churches and noble palaces will captivate you!

We'll end the tour after four hours of activity.
