The enchanting village of Turckheim, the Medieval streets of Riquewihr, excellent Alsatian vineyards and wineries, the fairytale Château of Haut-Koenigsbourg... discover the best of Alsace on this complete guided tour.
Alsace & Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle Tour Itinerary
On the morning of your tour, meet your guide in Colmar, ready to begin your full-day Alsatian adventure.
After a short minibus journey, you'll arrive in Turckheim and begin your guided tour. As you follow your expert English-speaking guide around the picturesque village's most important sights, you'll see why it is a perfect paradigm of the Alsace region. Admire the historic architecture that seems straight out of a fairytale, and the vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see. You'll also visit the town hall and three Medieval gates that formed part of the old defensive city wall.
Next, you'll make your way to Riquewihr, a quaint town whose Medieval charm has been well-preserved despite it having seen conflicts like the First and Second World Wars. Fortunately, its historic houses and monuments have remained intact, and you'll be able to admire them as they were in the 16th century. A true journey back in time!
You'll have free time in Riquewihr to explore the village at your own pace and to indulge in traditional Alsatian cuisine in a local restaurant (food not included).
Having eaten, you'll enjoy a tour of the famous Alsace Wine Route. Take in the seemingly never-ending views of vineyards and admire the villages nestled amongst the rolling hills. You'll make a stop in one of these rural towns to visit a typical winery. Learn all about the wine production process in this region and - of course - you'll also be treated to a tasting of local wines. Cheers!
The last stop on your complete tour of Alsace will be at the dramatic hilltop Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. Explore the château's interior with your guide, who will show you the most interesting parts of the fortress, built in the 12th century to govern the wine-making region of Alsace.
At the end of an unforgettable day, you'll return to Colmar.
