Visiting Colón and feeling hungry? We've got you! At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel to set off on a mouthwatering food tour of the Panamanian city. Get ready to indulge in authentic Caribbean flavors!
Our journey begins at the corner of 11th street and Amador avenue, where we'll sample our first dish: saus. This mixture of rice with pork pickled in lemon, onion and chombo bell pepper will melt in your mouth, and not to mention explode with flavors! Afterward, we'll head to Puerto Escondido to sample codfish cake and chicheme, a traditional drink made from pounded corn.
The next stop will be at the Colón Bakery, where we'll enjoy some banana and bom cakes. We'll continue towards Dos Mares restaurant, on Arosemna Avenue, where we'll sample icinglass, another traditional beverage that stands out for its aphrodisiac properties.
For lunch, we'll go to Arrecifes restaurant, where we'll sit down to a feast of flavors. Our options include octopus in coconut milk, fish fillets, fried sea bass, fried fish, lobster, chicken or grilled ribs. To accompany your meal, additional options such as fried plantains, marinated yucca root, mashed bananas, coconut rice, or french fries will be available. We'll wash it all down with a selection of soft drinks, natural juices, or beer. Enjoy!
To end on a high note, we'll try a refreshing raspado at the Paseo Marino Central. This frozen dessert is an icon and a favorite among locals.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel and say goodbye after a total of 3.5 hours of sightseeing.
