Atacama Valley & Desert 2-Day Tour

Day 1

Having picked you up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7 am, we'll set off on our tour of the Chilean Atacama region.

The first stop of the day will be in Vallenar, the capital of the province of Huasco. This city is also one of the main hubs of the Atacama region's valley and desert. We'll visit its historic centre and sample a typical dish for lunch at a restaurant.

After we've had lunch, we'll continue our tour of the Atacama region by heading to the outskirts of Vallenar. Here, we'll find the Santa Juana Reservoir. We'll see this incredible piece of infrastructure and discover its geology, as this area is home to quartz, metabasites, quartzite and marble.

Our day will finish up as we head to the Alto El Carmen mountain lodge, where we'll have dinner and spend the night in cabins,

Day 2

Rise and shine! We'll have breakfast at the lodge and then continue our tour through the desert of the Atacama region. To begin, we'll head southbound towards the village of San Felix. This picturesque mountain village has a bridge that stretches over the Carmen River which boasts excellent views of the Andes.

Our tour of San Felix will then take us to the Horcón Quemado pisco factory, where we'll learn about the process of making Chilean pisco. After giving you some free time to have lunch at the pisquera, we'll head to the Pinte ravine to admire its spectacular canyon.

We'll then take you back to your hotel and drop you off between 5 and 6 pm.

This tour includes one night's accommodation at the Alto El Carmen mountain lodge, where you'll stay in wooden cabins. If you're travelling with another person, you'll have a private double cabin for yourselves. If you're travelling alone, you'll share the cabin with other members of the group.
