Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and take you to the train station, where we’ll begin our journey to Machu Picchu. Ready?

You’ll enjoy one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. The train features glass ceilings and large windows, allowing you to feel as if you’re traveling through the Andes.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we’ll take a bus that winds up the mountain for about 30 minutes until we reach the entrance to the lost city of the Incas.

For 2.5 hours, your private guide will take you through the key sites of Machu Picchu, such as the Guardhouse, the temples, and the agricultural terraces. You’ll learn about the greatness of the Inca civilization without the distractions of large groups.

After the visit, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have between 2 and 5 hours of free time to try local cuisine, walk around the town, and shop for handicrafts before boarding the return train. This time will depend on your Machu Picchu entry schedule and the return train.

Once back in Cusco, we’ll take you to your hotel, where we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 14 to 18 hours.

Panoramic Train

The excursion to Machu Picchu is carried out on panoramic trains. You can choose between tourist class (Expedition or Voyager train) and first class (Vistadome or The 360° train).

After booking, we’ll confirm the exact pickup time, as it depends on train availability.

Departure Stations and Duration

Both outbound and return trains to Cusco may operate from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo station (1 hour and 30 minutes from Cusco), depending on availability. During the rainy season (December to March), Poroy station is closed, so we’ll travel by bus to Ollantaytambo. We’ll send you an email once your booking is confirmed with the exact pickup time and the station from which the train will depart.

Transfer times will vary depending on the departure station. The journey between Poroy and Aguas Calientes takes approximately 4 hours, and the journey between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Important Info

If the activity is canceled due to strikes or adverse weather conditions, we’ll offer you an alternative date. If rescheduling is not possible, you’ll receive a full refund except for the Machu Picchu tickets (approximately S/ 200 (US$ 59.34)), which are non-refundable.
