Diani Food Tour+ Ibiza Market Visit
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time in front of the Tsunami Garden Café and, after a brief introduction, we'll begin this food tour of Diani. Are you ready to discover the essence of Swahili cuisine?
We'll walk a few metres to our first stop: the Ibiza market, a place renowned for its wine. Before diving into tasting different flavours, you can chat with the merchants and see how the colourful deras, traditional Swahili dresses, are made. It's the perfect setting to soak up the local culture!
With our appetites whetted by the aroma of spices from the market, we'll head to a kibandaski, a restaurant popular with locals, to enjoy an authentic feast. Here, you'll be welcomed with a cup of Swahili porridge made with wheat, cardamom, sugar and coconut milk.
Then, typical dishes from the Kenyan coast will arrive at the table, such as chapati with beans, ugali with sukuma wiki, coconut rice accompanied by fish in sauce and viazi karai, one of the region's most prized street snacks. An explosion of flavours!
To round off the gastronomic experience, we'll visit a traditional bar where we'll toast with mnazi, the refreshing palm wine enjoyed all along the Kenyan coast. Cheers!
Here, we'll say goodbye after a 2-hour tour, with all of the delicious flavours in our memory forever.
