Edmonton Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
The free walking tour of Edmonton will begin after we meet at 10065 100 St. NW. Once we’re ready and introductions have been made, we’ll head to the Citadel Theatre. What better place to start our tour of Alberta’s capital?
There, we’ll discover this cultural icon whose geometric volumes stand out in the urban landscape. As we admire its exterior, we’ll tell you how this venue boosted the rise of Canadian theater. Did you know it was one of the first theaters in the country to incorporate simultaneous stages?
Next, we’ll walk to Sir Winston Churchill Square, which blends monuments, sculptures, and civic architecture with unmatched elegance. We’ll stroll among fountains and buildings that tell the story of Alberta’s political and social growth. Our next stop will be outside Edmonton’s CN Tower, a minimalist building from the 1960s.
A few steps away, we’ll stop outside Rogers Place, the contemporary temple of hockey. There, we’ll see the futuristic design of the home of the Edmonton Oilers. The tour will continue at the Neon Sign Museum, a sanctuary of retro lights that recalls the advertisements that illuminated Edmonton in the 20th century.
Then we’ll walk along 4th Street Promenade, the most famous street in Edmonton for its cafés, boutiques, and historic brick buildings that preserve the city’s industrial soul. Feeling tired? Surely not! We’ll continue the free tour by heading toward the Alberta Legislative Assembly building, where we’ll admire its monumental dome and neoclassical façade.
Before ending the guided tour of Edmonton, we’ll stop at the Frederick G. Todd Lookout, from where the city shows its best side between the Saskatchewan River and its skyline.
Finally, we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 3 hours at the initial meeting point.
