Fátima E-Bike Tour
Activity Details
Fancy a bike ride through Fátima? If that's the case, we'll meet up on Rua de São José. There, we'll get ready with our e-bikes, helmets, and safety gear for this adventure through one of Portugal's most spiritual regions. Let's go!
After these initial preparations, we’ll set off toward one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world: the Shrine of Fátima. Upon arrival, we’ll explore its vast esplanade and stop at its main buildings. We'll admire the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, with its sober and monumental lines, whose architecture blends classicism with a strong devotional character.
We'll also see the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, a large contemporary church that contrasts with the historic buildings on the grounds. Did you know that the esplanade of the Fátima Shrine is twice the size of St. Peter's Square at the Vatican?
Afterward, we’ll cycle to Aljustrel, the small village of Fátima, where the three shepherd children lived. There, we’ll visit their homes, examples of traditional Portuguese rural architecture, built with humble materials and designed to meet the needs of peasant life in the early 20th century.
We'll then continue on to Valinhos, traversing its serene and deeply symbolic landscape. We'll explore the Hungarian Calvary, a site of profound spiritual significance, dotted with monumental altars. Next, we'll arrive at Loca do Cabeço, a site associated with the apparitions of the Angel of Peace. Surrounded by nature, we'll examine how the landscape is also an integral part of the heritage experience of Fátima.
Finally, we’ll cycle back to the starting point, where we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 3 hours on the tour.
