Yanagawa River Canoe Ride + Lunch
Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at Lion Square in Mitsukoshi, where we'll take a train from Tenjin Station, a few metres from our meeting point, to the Yanagawa Station.
This city is known as the Venice of Japan thanks to its 60 kilometres (37 miles) of canals and its water supply system, created more than 400 years ago to protect the city and manage its water resources.
Upon arrival in Yanagawa, after a 50-minute ride, we'll board a traditional boat, where the boatman will not only take us through the canals, but will also delight us with his traditional songs. All you'll have to do is sit back, relax and enjoy a unique perspective of this ancient feudal city.
After the canoe ride, we'll return to the mainland and head out to enjoy a local speciality at a Yanagawa restaurant. We'll enjoy a typical lunch of grilled eel, a dish highly valued for its exquisite taste and traditional preparation. Accompanied by the rural scenery of the region, this lunch will be an unforgettable gastronomic experience!
After lunch, we'll take the train back to Fukuoka, arriving at Tenjin Station after about 6.5 hours in total.
