Alhambra Private Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Paseo de la Sabica, number 40. From this point in Granada, we'll start our private tour of the Alhambra. Are you ready to discover this important Andalusian architectural gem?
On this tour, we won't access the Nazareth Palaces of the Mexuar, the Comares Palace, and the Palace of the Lions, which is where the famous fountain is. However, we'll explore other important rooms of the Alhambra, one of the most visited monumental complexes in Spain. In fact, it's declared a World Heritage Site due to its exceptional historical, artistic, and architectural significance.
Throughout the tour, we'll admire two of the main entrances to the complex: the Puerta del Vino (Wine Gate) and the Puerta de la Justicia (Gate of Justice). After finding out why they have these names, we'll continue our tour by visiting the Alcazaba fortress. This space, which dates back to the 13th century, corresponds to the military area that protected the palaces. Like any esteemed fortress, this bastion has watchtowers, among which the towers of the Vela and the Pólvora stand out.
Next, we'll head to the Palace of Charles V, a Renaissance building the emperor ordered to build. Did you know Charles V spent his honeymoon with Isabella of Portugal in the Alhambra? We'll share some secrets of Europe's most powerful man in the 16th century and then, we'll head to the Palace of the Convent of San Francisco. This Franciscan monastery was built in 1494 and currently houses the Parador de Granada, a 4-star hotel.
Finally, after 2 hours, we'll conclude our private tour of the Alhambra by visiting the gardens of Generalife, where you'll notice the importance of water in Arab culture. You'll love its paradisiac fountains and flower beds!
