Sonora Desert 3 Day Tour

Day 1: Magdalena de Kino & Puerto Peñasco

After picking you up from Plaza Hidalgo or your hotel in Hermosillo, whichever you prefer, at 8 am, we'll head to the north of the state of Sonora. In two hours, we'll reach the magical town of Magdalena de Kino

There we'll visit the tomb of Padre Kino before continuing through the Sonora Desert until we reach our final destination of the day: Puerto Peñasco, located three and a half hours away. We'll settle into our hotel and rest until the next day.

Day 2: El Pinacate & Altar Desert

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off for the Altar Desert. Just 15 minutes away we'll find the largest sand dunes in North America, some of them reaching up to 200 metres high! We'll set off on a two-hour hike to get to know this beautiful part of the Sonoran Desert better.

At the end of the hike, we'll take a well-deserved break for lunch. Next, we'll head to El Pinacate, a volcanic area with some of the most impressive natural rock formations in the world. The impressive El Elegante, which is more than five kilometres in diameter, and Cerro Colorado will stand out.

We'll end the second day of the tour by returning to the hotel and resting.

Day 3: La Proveedora

On the third day of our Sonora Desert tour, we'll visit the archaeological site of La Proveedora, a unique historic place in the Sonoran Desert. It is an area home to numerous petroglyphs left by ancient settlers. To this day, their meaning remains a mystery, but you can make out groups of animals and representations of the moon and the stars.

After exploring La Proveedora, we'll return to Hermosillo and drop you off at the place of your choice.

This tour includes two nights' bed and breakfast accommodation in the following hotels:

1st night: Hotel Paraíso del Desierto.
