Nordkapptrappa Hiking Trip
Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Sjøgata 1A, where we'll start with a brief introduction and provide trekking poles before setting off on one of Honningsvåg’s most popular hiking routes. Ready to tighten your boots? Let’s get moving!
We'll begin with an uphill climb of about 1 hour toward one of the peaks of Magerøya Island, ascending the Nordkapptrappa sherpa steps. These stone stairways, perfectly integrated into the landscape, were built using ancient techniques that respect the unique environment of Norway’s fjords.
We'll hike along narrow paths on the steep mountainside that overlooks Honningsvåg, surrounded by Arctic air, tundra vegetation, and a silence broken only by the wind.
Halfway up, we'll reach a mountain cabin where we’ll enjoy views of the Arctic Ocean and the silhouette of the North Cape while having coffee or tea with traditional pastries.
We’ll then continue the ascent and, before you know it, the summit at 300 meters(984 feet) above sea level will welcome us. We made it!
After a short break, the trip continues along a panoramic ridge of moderate difficulty, offering breathtaking views where the sea, mountains, and sky blend together. This is the perfect moment to stop and capture postcard-worthy photos.
Finally, we’ll begin the descent and, after about three hours of hiking, we’ll return to our original meeting point and say our goodbyes with great memories of the experience.
