History

Built in the 6th century under Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, Hagia Sophia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has served as a Christian church, a mosque and a museum.

How to visit Hagia Sophia

You can see the Hagia Sophia from the outside as part of a walking tour of the city. Guides are not permitted within the mosque, though our Hagia Sophia skip-the-line tour provides an audioguide to use while inside!
