Day Trip to Shutco Canyon & Lake Cochapampa
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll set off from our meeting point in Lima to begin this day trip to Shutco Canyon and Lake Cochapampa. After travelling overnight, we'll reach this charming point in Lima's mountain range at sunrise, where the fresh air and natural surroundings will provide a great welcome. Time for the adventure to begin!
Our first stop will be at the Andenes Milenarios (Millennial Terraces), a masterpiece of pre-Hispanic agricultural engineering. As we stroll amongst these terraces, we'll tell you the fascinating history of their origins and functions. If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, you can't miss out on the "extreme swing" and its spectacular views. You'll be blown away!
After exploring the terraces, we'll re-energise with a traditional breakfast. At a local restaurant, you'll get to try artisanal cheeses, mountain-style bread, and a comforting cup of Peruvian tea. What a true delight for your taste buds and a great way to prepare for the day!
Our next stop will be at the Shutco Canyon, where we'll spend 2 pleasant hours exploring the trails that will lead us to breathtaking views of the snow-capped Pariacaca. Did you know that it's considered a sacred apu? We'll tell you all about it during the walk!
Next, we'll make our way to Laros, where we'll visit the main square, a picturesque spot full of life and local culture. You'll get to interact with the locals and learn more about their traditions and customs.
Later on, we'll venture over to Laguna Cochapampa, an authentic paradise made up of turquoise waters surrounded by mountains. Here, you'll have 2 hours of free time to explore the areas and, if you wish, go zip-lining, horseback riding, or rent a kayak to relax across the lake's peaceful water. Are you up for it?
To re-energise, you'll get to enjoy a typical Andean lunch before we begin our journey back to Lima. Along the way, we'll have an additional stop to taste some local products like vinaigrettes, macerated food, and nectars.
Lastly, we'll reach our initial meeting point after a total of 24 hours on this day trip.
