Lima Food Markets Tour + Tasting

We'll pick you up from your hotel to tour Lima's traditional markets. Ready to dive head first into Peruvian cuisine and sample rich local flavors?

Our first stop is at a small traditional market in Surquillo, where we'll take a gander at what local ingredients are typical in the area. These products are often considered authentic Andean and Amazonian treasures.

As we enter the stall, you'll be blown away by the number of domestic fruit varieties, each offering a distinctive flavor only found in Peru. Here, we'll also have the opportunity to connect with day-to-day life in Lima by chatting with the local shopkeepers and listening to their experiences.

Next up, our journey through the traditional markets extends as we come to the charming fishing village of Chorrillos, renowned for its abundance of fresh seafood and fish. Upon arrival, we'll uncover the secrets behind Peru's most celebrated dish and carefully choose the finest fish for crafting this iconic recipe. Yes, we're referring to none other than the emblematic ceviche!

Our tour of the traditional markets will continue by taking the Metropolitano bus to the center of Lima. Here, we'll visit the Central Market and the Chinatown, where we'll tell you the secrets of the most famous Peruvian dishes as well as the fusion of many of them with Asian gastronomy.

In addition, we'll taste some typical Peruvian-Chinese snacks or street food, such as picarones or anticuchos. After this treat, we'll go to Alameda Chabuca, near Plaza Mayor of Lima to put the finishing touch to the tour tasting rice pudding and mazamorra morada.

With a full stomach and after 3 hours enjoying the traditional markets, we'll be back at your hotel in Lima.
