Chichén Itzá & Xcajum Cenote Day Trip
Day Trip Details
After picking you up at the designated time at Paseo 60, in the center of Mérida, we'll set off to the ancient Mayan city of Chichén Itzá, located 1 hour and 40 minutes from the city.
Once we arrive at Chichén Itzá, we'll gon on a guided tour of 1 hour of the archaeological site. We'll admire the stunning pyramid dedicated to the God Kukulkán, which the Spanish conquerors called El Castillo (The Castle). Along with your professional guide, we'll discover the secrets of the temple that dominated the religious life of Chichén Itzá.
We'll also explore the Temple of the Warriors: a pyramid surrounded by rows of columns, known as "the thousand columns," bearing war scenes cut into the rock. We'll also admire other important buildings, such as El Osario, a pyramid with a cave inside, or the El Caracol observatory, a rounded structure that's a testament to the advanced astronomical knowledge that the Mayans came to possess. Then, you'll have 1 hour of free time to walk around the site at your own pace and take pictures.
Afterward, we'll head to the Xcajum Cenote, where you'll spend 2 hours. Here, you'll have time to cool off in its crystal-clear waters, so we recommend you bring a bathing suit and a towel. Next, you'll enjoy a buffet-style lunch including typical food from the region, like roast chicken or pork, rice, beans, and handmade tortillas.
Finally, we'll head back to Mérida and say our goodbyes at the starting point 9 to 10 hours later.
