Sí, los ciudadanos españoles necesitan pasaporte en vigor para entrar en Marruecos, con una validez mínima de tres meses. Eso sí, no se requiere visado para estancias turísticas de un máximo de 90 días. En cualquier caso, es importante consultar siempre con la embajada o consulado antes de viajar. Al fin y al cabo, los requisitos podrían cambiar y ser diferentes dependiendo de la nacionalidad del viajero.
La mejor época para viajar a Marruecos es en primavera, es decir, de marzo a mayo, y en otoño, entre septiembre y noviembre. En estas épocas, el clima es más suave y agradable. En verano, las zonas del interior y el desierto pueden ser extremadamente calurosas. Por su parte, en invierno, las temperaturas bajan lo que puede ser una oportunidad para visitar ciudades como Marrakech o Fez, pero quizás resulta más complicado para recorrer zonas montañosas y o el Sáhara, ya que tienen climas más extremos.
No es obligatorio, pero sí muy recomendable contratar un seguro médico para viajar a Marruecos. La sanidad pública es limitada y los centros privados pueden ser costosos dependiendo de tratamiento que se necesite. Para evitar sustos innecesarios, la mayoría de seguros cubren imprevistos como enfermedades, accidentes o, incluso, pérdidas de equipaje, lo que da mucha más tranquilidad durante el viaje.
Marruecos está en el huso horario GMT +1, igual que la España peninsular en invierno. Sin embargo, cuando en España se aplica el horario de verano, Marruecos suele quedarse una hora por detrás al no ejecutar el cambio de hora estacional. Por tanto, el país magrebí suele tener una hora menos respecto a la España peninsular entre marzo y octubre. La excepción a esta regla ocurre durante el Ramadán, ya que durante este mes sagrado los relojes se suelen adelantar una hora.
La moneda oficial es el dirham marroquí. Aunque en zonas turísticas se aceptan a veces euros, es recomendable pagar siempre en moneda local, ya que resulta más beneficioso a nivel de cambio. El pago con tarjeta está bastante extendido en hoteles y restaurantes grandes, pero conviene llevar efectivo para zocos, taxis o compras pequeñas.
