Itinerary

We will meet up at 5 pm in the Bolshoi theatre, our starting point for this tour of the communist side of Moscow. Standing in front of this majestic building, which was witness to several historical events of the Communist Party, we will hear the origin of this party and who its leaders were.

Close by, we find the famous Revolution Square. While we reveal how it earned its name, we will see the grand statue of Karl Marx, author of the principal books on communism - Capital and The Communist Manifesto.

We continue our guided tour at the Lubyanka Square to admire the façade of what was once the KGB headquarters. Here you will find out about all the ingenious techniques of espionage used by the secret police during the communist regime. You will also hear the fascinating history of its role during the Cold War.

While we reveal these mysteries, we will walk to the historic Metropol hotel, where Stalin and Mao Zedong met and played chess in 1950. Then we move onto Pushkin square, which was home to the headquarters of the party’s main newspaper.

From here, we will head down Tverskaya Street, famous for its historic buildings and where a huge obelisk monument dedicated to the first Soviet constitution was located. Walking down this large avenue we reach a pretty little market store which seems frozen in a bygone era and there we will finish our tour.
