Museum of Capodimonte Guided Tour
Tour Details
Our guided tour will begin at the Porta Grande (Big Gate) of the National Museum of Capodimonte. The majestic Royal Palace of Capodimonte, a former Bourbon residence, houses today one of Italy's most important museums. Are you ready for a fascinating journey through centuries of art history? Let's go!
On the first floor, we'll admire the famous Farnese Collection, which includes masterpieces from major artists like Titian, Rafael, Botticelli, and El Greco. Here, we'll also explore the former royal apartments, which will transport you to the life of the House of Bourbon, the Armory, and the Porcelain Room.
The Neapolitan Gallery is found on the second floor. Here, you'll admire the details of the dramatic Flagellation of Christ by Caravaggio and discover the rich expression of Neapolitan art with pieces by Ribera and Luca Giordano.
After exploring the museum's rooms, we'll dedicate about 30 minutes to strolling around the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, the vast park that surrounds the palace. This former royal hunting ground, now open to the public, is a haven of serenity with trails lined with trees, gardens, and diverse flora. If you're lucky, you can spot some of the peacocks that live freely in this park. Don't forget to take a picture!
The tour will end at the entrance of the Museum of Capodimonte 2.5 hours later.
