Cross the border and discover the history of slaves who gained their freedom on this tour of the Canadian side of the Underground Railroad. As an added bonus, you'll also visit the spectacular Niagara Falls!
Underground Railroad Tour Canada
At 10 am on the day of the tour, we will pick you up from your Niagara Falls (US) hotel. From there, we'll cross the border into Canada and learn all about the country's role in the liberation of African American slaves who escaped plantations of the American South.
We will discover the history and significance of the second leg of the iconic Underground Railroad, a hidden network that connected escaped American slaves with 'free states' and Canada.
Over the course of this journey through history, the group will visit key locations in the abolitionist movement, like the British Methodist Episcopal Church in St. Catharines, where Harriet Tubman established an abolitionist stronghold and place of worship. The tour will also visit an old slave cemetery in Ontario's wine region, where we will stop for a wine tasting experience.
Towards the end of the tour, the group will head to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls to take in stunning views of one of the most impressive waterfalls in the world, the famous Horseshoe Falls. The views of this incredible natural spectacle are sure to blow you away!
After this last visit, we will cross the border back into the United States, where you will be returned to your hotel, around 1 pm.
