Day Trip Details

After meeting in front of the Osaka Mode Gakuen building, we’ll set off on a journey of just over 1 hour heading west. Our destination? The famous Himeji Castle, the most visited castle in the country. It’s time to travel back to medieval Japan!

This fortress is part of the so-called “Three Great Castles” and has been declared a World Heritage Site. And it’s no surprise, as its almost unreal white color has earned it the nickname of the White Heron.

It was built in 1346 on Mounts Himeyama and Sagiyama and, unlike many other Japanese castles, it’s survived wars, fires, and earthquakes intact. Did you know its passageways were designed like a labyrinth to confuse invaders? From the top of its main tower, we’ll enjoy the best panoramic views of the entire area.

After around 2 hours of visiting, we’ll head to the coastal city of Kōbe, about a 1-hour drive away. Once there, we’ll stop in its Chinatown, one of the oldest in Japan. The aromas of ginger and toasted sesame will fill the air.

For 1 hour, we’ll stroll through its streets lined with red lanterns and traditional shops, where every corner reveals centuries of cultural exchange. There, we’ll tell you how Kōbe was one of the first Japanese ports to open to foreign trade.

Next stop? Nara, the cradle of the Japanese spirit and a former imperial capital. Once there, we’ll head straight to its famous park, where the deer, considered messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion, will approach us with their unique friendliness.

You’ll then have 1 hour of free time to visit Tōdai-ji Temple, a masterpiece of architecture that houses a Great Bronze Buddha measuring more than 15 m (50 ft) tall.

Finally, we’ll begin the return journey to the meeting point in Osaka, where we’ll say goodbye after approximately 10 hours and 45 minutes.
