Stargazing in Oudtshoorn

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Buitekant Street and, from there, we'll travel a few minutes to a secluded area of Oudtshoorn, which we'll determine based on weather conditions. Are you ready to discover the secrets of the sky above Klein Karoo?

Once we're in the ideal spot to observe the sky without light pollution, we'll show you how to use the telescope and gaze at the night sky.

Thanks to the explanations provided by our expert astro-tourism guide, we'll learn to recognise the most prominent stars and constellations in the Southern Hemisphere, such as the Southern Cross and the Magellanic Clouds.

During this hour-long activity, we'll also observe globular clusters, visible planets and distant galaxies, while you discover interesting facts about the history of astronomy. Did you know that Oudtshoorn is one of the best places to admire the sky in the Southern Hemisphere? You'll be captivated!

After this magical experience, we'll return to the starting point and conclude the activity after an hour and 10 minutes in total.
