Oplontis Ruins Excursion
At 9 am on the morning of the tour, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Pompeii. From there, we'll hop over to the archaeological site of Oplontis, a suburban area located in modern-day Torre Annunziata that was destroyed during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
In the company of an expert guide, we'll visit the excavation site of Oplontis, a toponym documented in the Tabula Peutingeriana, an ancient map of the roads existing in Italy at the time of the Roman Empire.
During the visit, you'll see what remains of the Roman buildings of Oplontis, including the famous Villa Poppea, a luxurious residential complex of the 1st century BC that probably belonged to Poppea Sabina, wife of Emperor Nero. As you admire the extraordinary decorative features of the villa, you'll be surprised by its excellent state of preservation.
After exploring the archaeological site for about two hours, we'll take you back to your hotel in Pompeii and the activity will end.
