Tulum & Sian Ka'an Canals Tour

  • 9 reviews | 90 travellers
It was fantastic. The experience in the canals, both by boat and then swimming (with a life jacket), was unforgettable. After Chichén Itzá, I'd say it's the second must-see in the area. The excursion to Muyil wasn't possible because it's been closed for restoration since the summer of 2024, so the information on the CiVitatis platform wasn't accurate. Even so, they contacted us and offered us the Tulum option, and it was great. Tulum, like Sian Ka'an, is a World Heritage Site, and that's for a reason.

Tour Details

We'll pick you up at your hotel, and our first stop will be the Archaeological Zone of Tulum, a magical enclave on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. During the guided tour, we'll delve into the history of this ancient walled Mayan city, an important centre of worship and trade in pre-Columbian civilisation.

We'll admire its most emblematic temples, such as El Castillo and the Temple of the Descending God, while soaking up the unique atmosphere that combines Mesoamerican archaeology with dreamlike views of the coast. Afterwards, we'll visit the lighthouse and Tulum Beach, enjoying this beautiful corner of the Mexican coastline.

After our cultural immersion, we'll refuel with some delicious Mexican antojitos, a selection of typical dishes from Yucatecan cuisine. With our energy renewed, we'll head to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve to begin a captivating boat trip through its lagoons and mangroves.

We'll navigate the ancient canals that the Maya used as trade routes, surrounded by lush vegetation and with the possibility of spotting various species of birds. The calm, crystal-clear waters of these canals will invite us to enjoy the last and most relaxing activity: floating down a slow-moving river. For 30 minutes, you can let yourself be carried away by the gentle current, enjoying a unique moment of tranquillity in the heart of nature.

Finally, we'll begin the journey back to the hotel, with arrival scheduled between 8 and 9 hours later.
