Discover Santo Domingo on a private tour from Punta Cana. Visit its Colonial City landmarks and natural parks in the oldest Caribbean capital!

Activity Details

After picking you up at your hotel in Punta Cana, we'll depart for the historic heart of the Caribbean. During the 2-hour journey to Santo Domingo, we'll pass through picturesque landscapes of sugar cane fields and rural enclaves.

Upon arriving at the oldest capital on the continent, we'll make our first stop at Los Tres Ojos National Park, a series of caves with underground lagoons. There, we'll walk up its stone stairways to admire this environment, where stalactites hang like natural sculptures over turquoise pools of water.

After an hour-long visit, we'll continue to the National Aquarium, where we'll spend half an hour exploring the marine world of the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Once in the urban heart of Santo Domingo, we'll stop in front of the neoclassical National Palace before venturing into the streets of the Colonial City.

Of course, we'll visit the Primada Cathedral of America, the first cathedral built in the New World. After discovering its history, we'll head to the Ozama Fortress and walk through such emblematic streets as Las Damas and El Conde.

Next, we'll visit the Panteón de la Patria (Pantheon of the Fatherland), the solemn Museum of the Royal Houses and the magnificent Plaza España, presided over by the Alcázar de Colón, a former viceregal palace adorned with views of the Ozama River. There, we'll tell you how this building of coral stone and Gothic arches stands as a testament to the power and elegance of the court of that time.

A few steps away, we'll discover the Larimar Museum, where we'll learn about this semi-precious stone, exclusive to the Dominican Republic. Did you know that it was formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago?

At midday, we'll enjoy a typical Dominican lunch at one of the traditional restaurants in the city center. The menu includes rice with beans, grilled or fried chicken, and tostones with soft drinks, juices, or water.

To finish our private tour of Santo Domingo, we'll stroll through one of the most authentic places in the city: the Colonial Market, where the aromas of coffee, cocoa, and fruit mingle with the colors of Taino crafts and embroidery. The perfect place to pick up a souvenir of this experience!

Finally, we'll begin our return trip to Punta Cana, where we'll say goodbye and drop you off at your hotel, arriving between 10 and 11 hours later.
