Quito Food & Culture Tour
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Gabriel García Moreno Park, in the heart of the historic center, to start this cultural and culinary tour of Quito. Ready to discover the Ecuadorian capital through its legends, stories, and flavors? Let's go!
We'll begin by admiring the façade of the Basilica del Voto Nacional, the largest neo-Gothic church in Latin America, famous for its gargoyles inspired by Ecuador’s native animals.
Next, we'll spend about 20 minutes at the Camilo Egas Art Museum, where we'll discuss the influence of indigenous cultures on Quito’s history. Here, you can try on the traditional Devil Huma mask, dance to Andean rhythms, and taste local Ecuadorian liqueur. Cheers!
With our energy restored, we'll enjoy a canelazo, a traditional Quito drink, that you can try with or without alcohol. Afterwards, we'll visit a hueca, a small eatery serving homemade dishes, to taste typical Quito sandwiches. We'll continue to the Archbishop's Palace, where we'll sample traditional desserts such as mistelas and pristiños.
From there, we'll head to the Plaza Grande, the epicenter of Ecuador's independence, to admire the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and García Moreno Street, also known as the Street of Seven Crosses. Further on, we’ll explore the Church of the Society of Jesus, a baroque masterpiece covered in gold leaf, and the former Central Bank, where we'll learn why Ecuador uses the dollar as its official currency.
One of the highlights awaits: a chocolate tasting made from fine aroma cocoa, considered among the best in the world. The perfect ending to our tour!
Finally, we’ll move to Plaza de San Francisco, where you’ll hear local legends and enjoy one of Quito's most beautiful views. We’ll conclude the tour here after 3 hours and 30 minutes.
