Margarites, Arkadi & Patsos Day Trip
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Rethymno at 9 am and travel to Margarites, a beautiful village where the pottery tradition is the undisputed protagonist.
Upon arrival in Margarites, we'll begin to explore the streets and learn about the history of the pottery industry. To do this, we'll go to a workshop where an expert craftsman will show us how the most typical products are made, from dishes to jars.
Before leaving Margarites, we'll stop at a café to have a coffee and get some strength for the rest of the excursion. We'll return to the minibus and head for the Arkadi Monastery, one of the most special places in Crete.
We'll get acquainted with the culture and religious customs of Arkadi while touring around the monastery. We'll also discover the history of the Holocaust in 1866, the Venetian domination or the characteristics of its impressive architecture.
Finally, we'll go into the purest Cretan nature in the Patsos cave. Once there, we'll take a trekking route through a small gorge surrounded by more than 80 species of flora and 24 types of fauna, many of them protected.
In Patsos we'll also visit the church of San Antonio, the Potami dam and a spring that will captivate you from the first moment. To finish, we'll charge the batteries with a meal in a local restaurant, perfect to enjoy the delicious gastronomy of the Greek island!
We'll end the excursion at 5 pm in your hotel in Rethymno.
