Snaefellsnes Day Trip
Activity Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel or the meeting point in Reykjavík and set off on a journey through the Snæfellsjökull Peninsula in Iceland. Did you know that Snæfellsjökull is home to many locations from the novel Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne?
We'll soon arrive at our first destination, Kirkjufell, one of the most photographed islands in Iceland. This was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones, known as the Arrowhead Mountain! Then, just a 20-minute drive away, we'll reach Ólafsvík, a small town that's one of the largest trading ports in Iceland.
Our day trip will continue by driving 30 minutes until we reach the famous black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur. Here, the guide will share the story of the shipwreck that occurred here in 1948. Next, we'll head to the Lóndrangar, a pair of rock pinnacles standing at 246 and 200 ft (75 and 61 m) tall. You'll be amazed!
After a 20-minute drive, we'll arrive at Arnarstapi, a historic fishing village known for its dramatic basalt coastline and the iconic Gatklettur rock arch. Finally, we'll set off on another 20-minute drive to Búðakirkja, a small church over 170 years old that's painted entirely in black, with white doors and windows.
We'll conclude our day trip after 11 hours by dropping you off at your hotel or the starting point.
