Inca Trail Jeep or Bike Tour
Inca Trail Jeep or Bike Tour
Between 7:30 and 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Rosario de la Frontera and drive our jeep to the Inca Trail. This tourist route, located in northern Argentina, starts in the province of Jujuy and crosses other regions such as Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca and La Rioja.
On our way there, we'll pass through the towns of El Tala and El Jardín, which are cradles of the Candelaria culture. This civilization developed in this part of South America between the years 200 and 1,000. After driving for 50 miles (80 kilometres), we'll come to Paso Zarate where we'll begin our tour of one of the sections of the Inca Trail.
We'll be using mountain bikes, although if you wish you can continue the tour aboard the jeep. Whether you're on a bike or in the jeep, you'll pass through a beautiful area of jungle and yungas forests. The latter is one of the main botanical species found in the eastern flank of the Andes.
During our tour, we'll cross one of this area's many high-altitude grasslands. Our route will then take us along the banks of the Negro River (Black River), which was named after the colour of the stones at the bottom. Their dark colour is due to a high concentration of minerals. We'll take a break on the banks of this river to have a picnic lunch that'll include some different local specialties.
After enjoying a filling lunch out in the open air, we'll take our bikes or jeeps back to the starting point of the route. From there, we'll return to Rosario de la Frontera and drop you off at your hotel at 6 pm.
