Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, we will meet at the Santorino restaurant in Samaná. Once everyone has arrived, we will begin this day trip to Salto de La Jalda. Did you know it’s the tallest waterfall in the Dominican Republic? Let’s explore the natural beauty of Caribbean forests!

First, we’ll board the ferry that crosses Samaná Bay until we reach Sabana de la Mar. After an hour of calm crossing, we’ll get on a minibus that will take us to the entrance of Salto de La Jalda National Park, located in Magua. There, we’ll switch transportation to enjoy an activity that won’t leave you amazed. Ready for an adventure on horseback? Let’s go!

On the backs of these tranquil animals, we’ll take a horseback ride along the trails of La Jalda National Park, a jungle where we’ll find a wide variety of tropical plants, cacao and coffee crops, and unique wildlife.

In addition, during the journey, we’ll combine the horseback ride with walking routes, a perfect way to not miss any detail of this natural setting. After approximately 2.5 hours of travel, we’ll arrive at the impressive Salto de La Jalda, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country and the tallest in the Caribbean. It’s over 120 meters tall (over 390 feet)! You’ll be able to enjoy a refreshing swim in its natural pools and take in its crystal-clear waters. We’ll also have a snack in this incredible place.

We’ll give you 1 hour of free time to explore Salto de La Jalda and, once recharged after this idyllic moment, we’ll return to the horses to start the journey back. Feeling hungry? When we arrive at the meeting point, we’ll satisfy our appetite with a light picnic-style lunch, perfect to prepare for the return to Samaná.

We’ll take the ferry again from Sabana de la Mar and end the day trip at the port of Samaná 12 hours later.
