Opened in 1937, this bridge was a key milestone in the history of civil engineering. It took just over four years to build and provided a vital link between San Francisco and Marin County.

The bridge's name comes from its striking reddish color, which is actually known as International Orange. This color was chosen to match the landscape's natural warm tones, while also providing contrast from the cool shades of the sea and sky.
