Don Diego River Safari Tour
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and make our way towards the mouth of the Don Diego River. Are you ready for an unforgettable safari experience?
After approximately an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the point where the Don Diego River meets the Caribbean Sea. There, we'll board a boat that will first take us to the southern part of the mouth of the river, an ideal place to observe the wildlife of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
During the 1 hour and 15 minute safari along this stretch of the river, we'll be able to spot howler monkeys, capybaras and a wide variety of birds, including herons, shorebirds, kingfishers, butterflies, toucans and, with luck, eagles.
Afterwards, we'll head to a beach area, where we'll disembark from the boat to watch the sunset while we prepare a bonfire. We'll give you a brief talk about the Arhuaco culture, an indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada.
Once the moon begins to light up the sky, after approximately 1 hour, we'll return to the boat to sail upstream to the starting point. Now, you must pay close attention because this will be the ideal time to see alligators in their natural environment surrounded by lush vegetation.
Finally, after 3.5 hours, we'll make our way back to the starting point.
