As Catedrais Beach, Tapia & Lugo Day Trip

  • 92 reviews | 3,986 travellers
Excellent, although the Xunta did not allow us to complete the walk along the beach, it was a very fun and enjoyable excursion, the driver was a great guy who saved us from a bad driver who crossed us on an exit, the guide was very nice with his Cordoban - Argentine accent, very nice and what was extraordinary, we missed the last train and the boss took us to our accommodation, we will definitely repeat the excursion with them.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet on Rúa Casas Reais, where the bus will be waiting for us. We'll leave Santiago de Compostela behind and head northeast towards the region of Mariña Lucense, where the famous beach of As Catedrais awaits us!

After a 2-hour drive, we'll arrive at Praia das Catedrais, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Crystal clear waters and huge rock formations that resemble cathedral vaults have made this place a must-visit in the region.

We'll spend an hour on the beach before continuing our tour of Asturias. Our next visit will be to Tapia, a charming village historically linked to fishing and the canning industry. We'll stroll around its port before giving you two hours of free time to have lunch and explore this town at your leisure.

We'll then return to the bus and, after making our way back to the region of Galicia, we'll go to Pancha Island, a true natural beauty in northern Lugo. You'll be mesmerised by the view of the small bridge that connects this island to the mainland and by its lighthouse, which dates back to the 19th century.

The last stop of the day will be in Lugo, where we'll go on a guided tour to discover its extraordinary historic heritage. During the tour, you'll see its old town and admire the Roman wall of Lugo, declared a World Heritage Site. This is one of the best-preserved Roman fortifications in the world and an indisputable symbol of the city.

After 10.5 hours, we'll finish the day trip back at the starting point.
