Salto Alto Day Trip
Day Trip Details
After meeting at the designated time at the Reloj de Sol in Santo Domingo, we'll set off to the northeast until we reach the province of Monte Plata. This area is filled with tropical jungles, hills, and rivers, surrounded by lush vegetation. Let's go!
After a journey a bit over 2 hours, we'll reach Salto Alto. Here, we'll embark on a short hike of about 5 minutes on a trail in the shadow of ferns, where you'll hear the sound of tropical birds.
Soon, the vegetation will open before our eyes and reveal a majestic site, a set of three waterfalls that fall from over 32 ft (10 m) tall into a natural turquoise-colored pool.
You'll enjoy 3.5 hours of free time to relax, swim under the waterfalls, and admire the views from the viewpoints. You can also explore the small shallow pools, perfect for cooling off and relaxing under the shade.
Finally, we'll regroup to start our journey back to Santo Domingo. We'll say our goodbyes at the initial meeting point after a total of 8 hours.
