At the appointed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in São Paulo and start this excursion to the Zu Lai Temple, located in the municipality of Cotia. Let's go!
After about an hour's drive, we'll arrive at our destination. Did you know that this is the largest Buddhist temple in Latin America? It has 10,000 square meters of built area, occupying a total land of 150,000 square meters (1,614,586 sq ft).
During our guided tour, we'll learn the principles of Fo Guang Shan monastery, which directs the temple. This monastery is here to inform others about Buddhism through education, culture, philanthropy, and spiritual purification.
Throughout the tour, we'll appreciate the symmetrical distribution so characteristic of Chinese architecture. The roof of the multi-level Zu Lai Temple was installed by craftsmen who traveled from Taiwan, contains the typical upside-down eaves and glazed tiles, and is topped by a decorative tile crest.
Plus, the complex is set in a large Zen garden full of plants and flowers, with a wooden bridge and a pond—an ideal place for meditation!
Finally, after touring this sanctuary, we'll start our way back to the starting point, where we'll arrive after 5 hours of hiking.
