Seville Cathedral + Giralda Small Group Guided Tour
Tour Details
Ready to discover one of the greatest temples in Christianity? To do so, we'll meet at the indicated time at number 19 Calle Francos and, from this point in the historic centre of Seville, we'll take a short walk to the Andalusian capital's cathedral.
Once in the temple, we'll have a guided tour of the Seville Cathedral in a small group of a maximum of 12 people. First of all, we'll learn about its origins, which date back to the ancient aljama mosque of Isbilya, as the city was called in the Almohad period.
Next, we'll admire the main jewels of sacred art in Seville Cathedral. Particularly noteworthy is the Altarpiece, a spectacular work that was begun in the second half of the 15th century by the Spanish-Flemish sculptor Pedro Dancart. It's a gilded ensemble of great detail and realism, where it's worth stopping to admire images such as the scene of Saint Mary Magdalene anointing the feet of Jesus.
We'll continue our tour by discovering some of the most outstanding chapels of the Seville Cathedral, such as the Royal Chapel, the Main Chapel, the Alabaster Chapels and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Of course, we'll also talk about the illustrious people who are buried in this temple, such as Christopher Columbus.
Lastly, we'll climb the ramps of the Giralda to reach the top of this ancient Almohad minaret. The effort will be well worth it, as we'll enjoy beautiful views of Seville from a height of 90 m (295 ft).
Finally, we'll descend to the base of the bell tower and go outside the cathedral, where we'll conclude this 1.5-hour visit.
