Sibiu Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
Would you like to discover the past of the Principality of Transylvania? To do so, we'll meet in front of the statue of Samuel von Brukenthal in Sibiu's Grand Square, the heart of the city. Here, among Renaissance façades, we'll begin our free tour of Sibiu, travelling back in time to the era of the Saxons of Transylvania.
From there, we'll walk slightly west until we reach the Lutheran Cathedral, whose 73 m (239 ft) Gothic tower stands as a spiritual beacon over the city. Its construction began in the 14th century, and for centuries it was a symbol of the power and faith of the German settlers.
Next, we'll go in search of the Bridge of Lies, the most famous in the country. Many claim that if someone lies on it, you'll feel its foundations shake. Around it, the small attic windows on the roofs watch passers-by as if they were eyes. In fact, did you know that Sibiu is known as the "City With Eyes"?
Lastly, we'll walk along Citadel Street, a medieval gem flanked by walls and watchtowers that have silently guarded the city for hundreds of years. Among cobbled alleys, passageways and flower-filled courtyards, we'll fall in love with one of the most captivating cities in Eastern Europe.
Finally, we'll conclude this free tour after 2 hours of walking along this historic street.
